I'm lookin for a diagram, if one exists, of the AC lines. I think I have a bad O-ring or gasket. Here's the story: My AC is low on freon. I go to add some, AC on max, fan on 4, and start to fill. just as the bottle is empty, i get a "blowoff" of freon. I obviously have a leak, and its gotten to the point where it cant even hold pressure for more than 5 minutes. it blows off from the passenger side, but where i'm not sure. i know the compressor is on that side, but other than that, i'm not sure. any help would be appreciated as its started to creep towards 100^ here in Tx already. Thanks!
Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but its what i have. Item Part Number Description 1 14398 Pressure cutoff switch electrical connector 2 W704692 Compressor manifold bolt 3 W520112 Compressor manifold and tube bracket nut 4 - Condenser inlet fitting (part of 19712) 5 W520413 Suction accumulator/Dryer outlet fitting nut 6 19D734 Compressor manifold and tube assembly 7 19E889 O-ring seal (4 required)
Thanks bee! I think its a gasket/O-ring right off the compressor cuz thats where it seems to blow from, low and back of engine. good thing i have a BL for some added room to work in there next week. Prolly will just swap out compressors as I have one w/ just 35K on it sitting in the garage. Thanks again BEE!
No problem! Hopefully its easy enough to get to an change out. I know how vital AC is, its close to the 100s here already.
i bought it back when i did the lariat cluster swap and i had no AC then. thought it was the problem, but my system just wasnt trippin the clutch, which is common problem when doing the cluster swap. resolution is a flash by Ford so that the AC system sees the new cluster. I have yet to do that, but I will be doing so when I swap this new compressor. Guess I'll swap belts too since I have to remove it to get the compressor out. Ugh, I dont have time for this crap...
Were you checking the pressure as you were adding refrigerant or just assume that it needed a whole can? If you are having clutch issues, you may also be having high pressure switch issues which could cause it to blow in an overpressure situation.
no, i dont have gauges so I was just adding a can. I had NO cold air whatsoever so I assumed I was w/out freon. My friend has gauges to hook up to Low/High sides. I did however look at the can gauge (low side) and it was 0 when I started so I assumed it was w/out freon. thats the problem not knowin AC systems... alot of assumin goes on lol. Any and all input would be helpful.
