Alright so I drove home on I-16 on tuesday through some pretty nasty weather and the truck held up fine. Then as I got on my off ramp the truck started shuddering really hard. And I had an engine light on. I've only seen a truck do this because my old one would do this anytime I took it in the mud. So I wasn't really worried, because usually In My old truck I could gun it on my way home and then let it dry over night and it would be fine. Well I did the same thing in this truck and it still shaking. If any of you know what's going on please lemme know. Here's the codes that my edge is reading: P0171 P0174 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Check your MAF and PCV valve and corners. You might have a vacuum leak. Worst it can be is your exhaust gasket. Get maf cleaner and clean it. The from a cold start spray hoses and gaskets. If it revs you got a vacuum leak
Mine has them still. Had them forever. I don't have a vacuum leak. I think its just my MAF. People alot of the time replace the o2 sensors but its normally not that i hear
Both codes refer to a LEAN in each Bank. P0171 is Bank 1 (Pass) and P0174 is Bank 2 (Driver). Sounds like the heavy weather driving put a load on the truck (high winds can make a truck drive in OD constant if its head on and strong). I bet you will be fine if you changed your plugs, but you could start by checking your MAF and giving it a good cleaning.
I was thinking maybe my big tires threw up some water into the engine? Or maybe they threw up some water far enough into the fender and my gotts mod sucked it in? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
larger tires tossing more water in your engine bay is not the culprit. regardless of tire spec, the same amount would be able to get through regardless of tread type as the space between the inner fender and the frame (the gap) doesnt change solely on tire sizes. Now, if you have a Body Lift like I do, then your engine bay REGULARLY sees water in it during any puddle stomping or rain storm (i even off-road hard through deep water occasionally and have NEVER had a shuttering truck issue). Gotts Mod is more than likely the culprit. This is why I paid for a TRUE CAI and not some make shift one (not saying anything about your personal craftsmanship, just the modd itself).
So what's the solution for me? And I don't have a body lift, but there does seem to be quite a large gap in there, I'll try and get a pic of the gap so u can tell me of its regular or not? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
if its still shaking today, check your gotts intake, verify that its still dry. i'll try to think of other resolutions, but start w/ the intake being dry and the MAF sensor being clean. If your gotts did suck some water in, it turned into dirty water since your filter is filled w/ stuff. this more than likely got your MAF filthy and hence why your truck is running real lean and shaking...
Your gonna think I'm a dumb ass but when u say "MAF"... Your referring to what? Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
