I have straight pipe on my V6 and it sounds pretty good. Almost has a diesel sound up to 2,500 rpm. anything after that sounds like a typical V6.
To be blunt, it's all going to sound like sh!t past idle. I've been there, done that. I love my truck, it's been a great, super reliable vehicle for 10 straight years, but the ONE thing I do not like, is the way my 4.2 sounded with the 3 different mufflers I tried the first year I owned it. I tried a Magnaflow, Flowmaster 40, and a Flowmaster 50. Out of those 3, the 50 series sounded the best, but still has the V6 whine at high RPM's. I ended up with a generic quiet muffler made for a V6 Stang and it's been the best of all and was like $40. Good luck on whatever you decide. Sent from my iPhone4 using Tapatalk
until you finally get your twins on your future ecoboost. heard a guys truck straight piped eco, also had a CAI and man those turbos scream with that setup. so sick. even on my dads at around 2k rpm those turbos can be heard

^Love the caution tape! haha I think the v6s can sound pretty good but stay pretty conservative with the muffler and you should be fine. But it's all up to you, personally I love the bullet muffler on my 5.4 but my stepdad says it is too loud (who knew that was possible???). I had a gt mustang muffler on my 3.slo ranger and it sounded great. Just my .02
