Do 325/85r16 tires fit on 16 inch stock rims? And help explain to me what numbers have to match so they do fit? Thanks.

That's a 37.8x12.8 tire. To try to fit that on a stock 16 which is 7" wide if I remember correctly is probably not going to wear correctly but someone else may be able to chime in

The tire shop was iffy on putting my 12.5 wide tires on 8" wide wheels. They said it was pushing it and that I wouldn't get the full load capabilities from the tire. A 13" wide tire on a 7" wheel would worry me for sure. I mean, thats 6" more tire than wheel, 3 per side. Obviously the bead itself isn't quite as wide but it's still a lot. I'd step up to a 10" wide wheel.

325 is height of tire metric
85 is width of tire metric
    16 diameter of rim standard

    Actually the metric sizing goes:
325 is the width in mm
85 is the ratio of sidewall to width
16 is rim size in inches

Calculation goes like 325 mm * .85 to get sidewall height. Multiply by 2. Change into inches and add the rim size

Sketchy, but it would work. Most tire sites will say that tire needs to be on atleast a 10" wheel. I wouldn't recommend it but you could do it but with a $400+ tire what is $100 a wheel...

Hmm if they are the Michelin XML's, their design allows for a 7" wide rim according to a few military surplus tire websites
