I just ordered a set of long tubes for me 05 5.4 4x4, and I just want to know if I need any kind of mid pipe, or if an exhaust shop can fabricate something with the stock cats, or I can delete them competely. Can you just move all the stock stuff back from the stock manifolds? Then do a cat-back...? Thanks

I can't remember if the 05 has 4 cats. Mine does, anyway most guys delete the back 2. And if you save the front 2 cats with out cutting them out good luck. And exhaust shop should be able to fab up anything it needs for a mid pipe. But as far as the O2 sensors you may need to get new ones or new wire leads depends on if they can reach to the new positions.

Well I understand how all that works, and I am almost positive that I have only two cats on my 05. What I really want to know is if I absolutely need a mid pipe, and new cats, or if I can have an exhaust job just relocate the stock cats, and fab something for a mid pipe? Something that will still have threaded holes for the o2 sensors, which i know that I am more then likely going to need the wire extenders. The pipe size was a good bit of information though. When I deleted my muffler I dropped a 1/4 in pipe size to build a little bit of back pressure, now that I am going back to a mufflered system I was going to go all the way up to 3", but I will just stick with 2.5" and more then likely do a SI/DO setup with the lightning exit, or keep them dumped at the rear axle the way they are now... but enough of the rambling... I just would like any help on the first part of this paragraph lol

They should be able to cut out your cats and relocate them pretty easily. Ask if they've done any work on the 04-08 F150s first.

Yeah any decent shop should be able to relocate your cats and weld in 02 bungs if you need them...that being said, now would be a good time to get high flow cats installed if you want to go that route since everything will be disassembled.

The cats I'm not too worried about unless they are starting to get clogged.
