The 3.55 is a higher gear so running 35's did put more strain on your transmission.

What has me puzzled is that per the code, you don't have LS but rather an open diff. Maybe the LS wasn't standard until 2005. In 2005 the FX4 standard was a 3.73 because of the larger wheel/tire from the factory, unless you specifically ordered it with the 3.55. I remember going through all of the options when I ordered my truck.

I remember they changed some thing half way through the year. Some lift kits are designed for pre-april and post april. I thought it was only for the front struts, but maybe they changed the rear diff as well post april.

Wait so I don't have an ls and that led to the trans failure?

And as far as not avoiding my teams from failing again what would y'all suggest I do?

I would. I plan on it and I have the 3.73 gears in mine.

LS or not has no bearing on your tranny crapping out on you. That just means you either have both tires spinning when needed, or you have the standard right rear spinner (as all 2wd trucks have).

I doubt the 35's were the cause of your transmission goin out, but it prolly contributed a bit. I had 35's w/ a 3.55 and it was dog slow. i never got it up to high speeds cuz it would take FOREVER to get anywhere. Now i'm runnin 4.30 and its chirpin whenever I want her to.

In short, the 35's didnt kill your transmission, nor did the lack of a Limited-Slip differential. Hard driving is more than likely the culprit, and yea, those 04 trans were junk as most would fall out just as you get close to 100k.

This is the answer I was lookin for, thanks vano!
yeah I just broke 100k so I guess it just couldn't take it...
As far as the gearing ratio I assume it costs more to get 4.56 gearing as opposed to 3.73 or 4.30?

you cant get a 4.30 for your truck cuz they dont make a Reverse Cut 4.30 for the 8.8. There is a standard equation for figuring out the correct R&P for tires but everyone ignores it. I'll list it again.

(New Tire DIVIDED BY Old Tire) TIMES OEM R&P = NEW R&P
    Ex:

    (35/32)*3.55= 3.88

Now they dont make a 3.88 so like YZ said, 4.10's should be perfect. 4.56 and you'll be stuck in the 35" club. 4.10's and you can ride 35's w/ no problem, or you can go back down and have a asphalt rippin machine.
