    can't be the clutch fork, that truck doesn't have one. It uses a concentric slave cyl.

    its a hydraulic clutch. The slave cyl is in the bellhousing around the input shaft. Ford went to all hydro clutches on their trucks in 84 I believe.

    I stand corrected, I don't know why I thought I saw a cable. Either way i am almost certain its a bolt backing out inside the bellhousing and clanking against the inside everytime it rotates. Just my thoughts

    check the starter, the stick and auto trucks use different ones, and it may be hitting the flywheel if they stuck an auto starter in there.

    There is a cable running on the driver side frame. That might be what you saw. Atleast there is one on mine.
