Ok, I have noticed that there is a grinding in the front end of my truck when the gas is pressed in so far. I have no tach so i would say about 2200 to 2500 RPMs and higher. The grinding noise is coming from inbetween the radiator and the front of the block and about where the fan goes into the pulley. I first thought that it was the fan clucth due to the heat. Then i though it was the timing on the truck. it happens at all speeds and even in park and neutral. The problem did not start till about two months ago when the heat started to register triple digits on the temps outside. So anyone have any ideas what it is? its on a 94 4.9 2wd.

Possible the belt tensioner bearing is going bad.

Take the belt off the tensioner and spin the
pulley to see if the bearings are rotating smoothly.

You have AC? Could be ac compressor clutch or bearing, both will make a grinding noise and both would be used heavily in triple digit weather

I will check on the pulley and bearings but they should be good just did all that back in November when i bought the thing. I do have A/C but i never use it because i have a 260 unit. 2 windows down at 60 mph. i think i turned it on once for sits and giggles but other than that i drive early morning and late at night only so there is no need for a/c. Will check though.

could be any of the pulleys/bearings up front...mine is doing the same thing and its coming from the bearing on the power steering pump because I let the power steering fluid get to low
