Okay guys so I know how much you all love to express your opinions. Here's your shot! So I figure I should give y'all the background first. I have the gotts mod with k&n filter and the silencer removal mod done for my intake. I have an edge CS tuner on power level two, and I'm waiting to contact power hungry performance to have it switched to a gryphon tuner with some custom tunes, how ever it would be a waste of money if I got the tunes before I got some exhaust. So it's time to choose exhaust! Now since my truck is one of the early 2004 f150's like several others on this forum my truck ticks like a diesel. This being said I'm curious if there's any type of exhaust that could take advantage of that sound and make it sound more like a diesel? Maybe with that diesel whistle? I obviously know nothing of exhaust, however I do know I want it to look like this: I'm told its called cowboy style and the reason I want it is because I've seen no one with it. I'd just want bigger tips and they would be matte black. But the real question is sound and I figure I'd consult the experts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
theres no way to get diesel sound unless you add a turbo and thats just the whistle part. you wont get the exact sound because diesels are completely different than gas engines.
It's not too loud though? I don't want it to be obnoxious but I still want it to be impressive. And I understand that gas and diesels are different I just didn't know if there was a way to make it whistle like that... How much would a turbo be? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you have a 2004-2005 truck you can get rid of your rear 2 cats and add an 18" magnaflow muffler. Running the tips out the back will quiet it down a lot so it shouldn't be annoying on the highway. Look up YouTube videos of F150s sounding like diesels, the ones that are bad have the cam phasers going out and is a $1500 fix. A little tick is normal for the 5.4 motors. Run some 5w-30 on your next oil change, it smoothed mine out noticeably. sent from my igloo
delete your rear cats like i did on mine, gives it a nice low rumble for an idle...and as far as the "tick" you'll never get rid of it unforetunately unless you replace the cam phasers and VCT solenoids and that's pretty costly unless you know how to get into your heads... lol from the back my truck sounds pretty damn good but walk to the front and it sounds like a diesel i've come to get used to it.
I like that mine sounds like a diesel though haha I love the sound of diesels! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
