Am I the only one who keeps hoping for Ford to announce a diesel F150? :peace:

I don't see any half tons getting a diesel anytime soon, especially ford
With the horsepower race between the different manufactures they would be stepping back IMO
A small diesel would be ~240-250 hp and maybe ~450lb-ft of torque and would very lucky to match the mpg's of some of the diesel SUV on the market at 19 city and 29 highway
Not to mention the probable $6,000+ price tag for the option and the added cost of diesel fuel.

Manufactures would just be shooting themselves in the foot. It would hurt 1/2 ton sales an heavy duty sales. Would be cool, just don't see it happening.

    Have to disagree again.
The emission systems suck but DEF systems are really advancing
    Check out the mpg's for 11-12 f250 powerstrokes compared to 7.3s- http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/f-250%20super%20duty/diesel%20v8

These new trucks are pushing 400-hp and 800 lb-ft of torque and getting similar if not better mileage then 7.3s with 275hp and 525 lb-ft
I'm not an engineer but that's impressive to me

So increased performance and efficiency with less emmisions.
With 15.5 million trucks in the road, over 2 million tractor trailers, reducing emmisions in diesels is a top priority. Know think about all of the agricultural vehicles and off road equipment that has tier 4 emmisions being inplemented into as well and your talking about a tremendous reduction in overall emmisions by using a renewable resource to clean particulate.

I'm by no means trying to get into the hippy bull **** but the emissions regulations really aren't a bad thing.

we would all longer a 1/2 ton diesel. But with the ford ecoboost, they probably will not make one.

That and Dodge making the move would force Ford's hand. All it's going to take is for a competitor to offer a diesel in 1500's and the others will follow. Not to mention, Ford has small diesel ready to go on the shelf. They've already tested and built a diesel powered F-150, they were too worried about chewing into their Super Duty sales to pull the trigger.
