hey guys/gals. ive got the normal EDGE for my 02 but im thinking of selling it and upgrading to an EVOLUTION CS what do you guys think? also ive been having some trouble with my programmer. it seems like no matter what i set the tune to im always 5 over the speed limit. ive got my tires set to 315/75/16s and i tweek the shift points a little bit. if i click on the gearing section it shows my gearing at 3.55. ive got 3.73. i thought this is supposed to be logged into the programmer from your factory settings?
you have to change it in the programmer. even if you do though it would be a good idea to have the guages set with atleast one being your speed. I bought the CS and its been very good to me so far (bought it july 4th weekend last year), I changed my tire size and gears, and have one of my guages set to my speed, your digital factory dash guage wont change, it will still read it like it did before. when you change your tire size and gears in the programmer its telling your computer to change the shift points and rev limits==if you didnt...i.e. I went from 3.55 to 4.11, my computer and tranny would try to shift at the 3.55 points...I was told by several people I trust in the automotive industry if I didnt tune it I could risk blowing up my tranny.
alright so what youre saying is if i set my tire size on my programmer that it wont reset my speedo? i thought that was the reason for the programmer if you set the tire size it tells the computer to make ajustments meaning it will fix how everything reads. my speedo isnt digital either.
change your gear ratio in your programmer to match what you know it to have before you start tweaking your tire sizes. Change your programmer to mph and see if they match up... remember your dash gauge being mechanical has a +/- 3mph tolerance.
