Of all the upgrades I've done, this is my favourite. Also the most expensive. My truck came with a piece of crap Dynomax exhaust. It was loud as hell, as if I didn't have any silencers at all. I originally ordered a Roush cat-back since I really like the sound and the look was really nice, but that didn't work out since Roush discontinued their 04-08 F-150 products. I looked at the Corsa but they had nothing for my model year. So I decided to go with Borla. Borla has been known for their high quality 300-series stainless exhausts on numerous performance vehicles. I knew I couldn't go wrong with them. I pulled the trigger and boy am I loving it. There is a definite increase in performance, although marginal compared to the Dynomax. The sound is much deeper, although a bit more quiet than I thought it would be. There is no drone at all, regardless of vehicle speed or engine speed. And for once I can have a decent conversation with someone in the truck, and I can actually hear the sound of the Triton motor. The truck is more responsive at all RPMs. I'm certain with a tuner I would be able to free up even more power. Some people say that there is a gain in fuel economy, but since I like to go harder on the throttle to hear the wonderful sounds I actually lost fuel economy. One thing to keep in mind when upgrading your exhaust is purchasing your exhaust from a reputable company that uses quality materials. Borla uses only 300-series stainless and every system they manufacture is made in the United States. None of this aluminumized crap or 400-series wanna-be garbage. If you're planning on switching up to a different vehicle later down the road, then go ahead and throw on some cheap exhaust for now. But if you're planning on doing something right from the start, which is why you're driving an Ford in the first place, then go with a quality manufacturer. My recommendations are Borla, B&B, Corsa, Stainless Works and Dynatech.
