I'm just going to start from the top and make my way down. 1st, my truck started out with a light tap took it to the shop had the cps changed out still was throwing codes. 2nd, Had the ford dealership do a second diagnostic and ended up with having my cam phaser redone and timing chain tensioners. 3rd driver side fuel module went bad a week later. So after about a week of driving threw another code had it diagnose, came back it was the front driver side converter, had it replace. Now I'm still hearing a tap noise coming from the motor and stumbles at low RPM's around 1 to 2000's and when I hit a hill after engine is up to temp. Has anyone experienced this issue? Does this sound like a plug and COP problem or a fuel issue? To make it worse I just got the truck in October of last year! It's an 06 expedition with 102,000 on speedo.
fuel mileage could be a tons of different things. 1. check your plugs. 2. check your air filter. 3. check your fuel filter. 4. check your pcv valve. in fact I would just replaces those filters and pcv valve. maybe $20 for all 3 items.
I would replace the plugs soon, they're usually done at 100k and could be part of the problem. sent from my igloo
That's 1st on the list cause to me it feels like a misfire. Did they redesign the motor craft plugs or is they still the same 2 piece design that brakes into 2? How much does dealer charge for a tune up?
The spark plugs were 2-piece from 04-06, some of the early 07s too... Now they are all one piece and you'll have the best luck with the Motorcraft plugs. Some guys have issues switching to a different brand. It should cost around $500 at the dealer to have them replaced, just make sure that you get a guarantee that they won't charge for any broken ones! Call the dealer for a tune up price. They're all a little different.
Just called 2 local ford dealers and was quoted 350 + 100 for each broken plug and 500 + 40 for each plug that brakes off. This right here is some bull**** I have never seen a spark plug change so damn expensive!!!!!!
