    Thanks for the Lucas link.

I used Fel-Pro from the local parts store.

I used black RTV for my gasket. Had a little shudder so I added some FM to stop it.

    np.

fel-pro was the brand i saw. parts store has it for $5.

i find it funny that when i search on amazon, oreilly and advanceautoparts.com under a 2002 f150 4x4 they dont list a gasket for the 10.25, only an 8.8 and 9.75. i have to look under the 99 f250.

alright so just like with everyone saying that the 7700 had an extra leaf spring compared to normal f150s came out to be un true, im now wondering about my rear diff. i was told that the 7700 come with the sterling 10.25 rear. i just read it could be a 9.75 or a 10.25. both axles have a 12 bolt cover, i have 12 bolts on the diff cover so i know i have one of them.

my tag on the right side of the diff reads like this:

3-V-115-A on the top line, there may be another number before the 3 but the bolt is covering it

    the second line reads this:
L73 10.2 2E2 3 with what i have read there should be a 3 infrotn of the L (bolt is covering it) to tell that i have 3.73 gears, which i do. i checked the door tag.

also read that the second set of numbers after the 3L73 is the rear axle code with 10.2 being the 10.25. can anyone verify this? worst case is i get the wrong gasket and have to go get another one.

I did RP when I changed mine out. expensive yes...but my rear end was also expensive with gears and a locker. they say I needed 1.5 quarts...I used up two and it was at the top.

im pretty sure the 10.25 diffs are round and the 9.75s are D shaped.

the gaskets for the 10.25 and the 9.75 looked very similar.

i have a 10.25 and changed my fluids. ill probably do a quick HOW-TO on changing the oil aswell as how to decode the axle tag.
