Headlight 9003 type was out last night on the Mazda Tribute. This morning I found the socket connector had melted from a poor connection. Bought a new socket #85810 $2.99 + tax. Nearly melted the light green copper ground wire off the factory crimp connector. Looking at the back of the connector ground is top center, left is low beam, right is high beam. Tools used: Soldered the low beam wire first. Remember to put heat shrink on the wire first before connecting and soldering. All three wires soldered and heat shrinked. Wire loom and Scotch 88 electrical taped harness. Make sure the female connector's wrap aroung tangs are bent downward to contact the male tabs on the headlight bulb. Don't forget Dielectric grease on the terminal connectors.
