that is what is called twin I-beam suspension.

the 4x4 version is called Twin Traction Beam or TTB

VVVVVV link for a good description, thats what I used to start learning about it :)

    HowStuffWorks "Off-road Suspensions"

a lot of prerunner rangers still use the I beam and TTB b/c its got a ton of travel and its fairly cheap to setup compared to a twin A-arm setup, or IFS

So is this a custom made setup, or can you buy the kit? Bigger question will it work with my bigger spindles and everything?

back in the day, F150s and Rangers came with if from the factory. it would be a 100% custom fabrication for your truck to incorporate it. youd need to beef up the frame, different steering system, arms, spindles, coils or better coilovers, limiting straps, bumpstops, wheels, brakes....... the question is...why do you want that kind of setup? If your looking for travel and smoother ride, the control arm setup our trucks have is best...
