cant tell you the exact difference. the timesert lasts longer. I know danny would have the answers on this subject.

I believe the timesert sits in the head better and they bite better to the aluminum when put in place, they last longer.

Did yall click that link I posted???? Would that work? Or no? I've never been through this before, but that also sounds like what I need.

lol that's how it goes man!

try putting a new plug in there before you decide to tap the hole. if the coil isn't broken too bad just set it on top of the plug, it will stay in place. im sure just the plastic hold down busted.

if you end up needing to tap the hole and can find the kit to do so it only takes about 45- hour maybe less. not a hard process, just a step by step time consuming process. gotta make sure you have a shop vac and a vac extension to put inside the head to suck most of the metal shavings out. can also start the truck up after the hole is tapped and blow it out of the head. either way youll want to change your oil shortly after.

your link looks like that's a fix for the 04-08 spark plug.

you would need an actual tapping kit. like I said, the price is about $400 unless you can rent it.

So retapping the hole is the best way to do it obviously. When it popped out tonight I found it and put it back in the hole with the coil on top and started it up and held it all down and that definately made it run better. And yes..just the plastic lip busted but it split the rubber boot that hugs up around the spark plug. I already bought the new plug and coil. I drove to the nearest Autozone hoping I could just put a new plug in and go....NOPE...Tow truck came an hour later and towed me my 1.5 hr ride home. -$200.00.

youll have to tap it then man. not a bad process and pretty easy on the pocket if you can find the tool to rent.

I posted the link for the timesert a few posts up

here is the link to the actual kit I used.

    Lisle LI65900 Rethreading Tool : Amazon.com : Automotive

still not 100% positive if I have a timesert or helicoil in my head though..
