My brakes work great but when i apply the brakes on my 2005 F 150 4x4 there is violent shaking in the steering wheel, so I put new rotors and pads on the front wheels but the problem still persists. ANY IDEAS ?????

My brother told me he once had the same problem on his Dodge van and it turned out to be a collasped brake hose.

the rotors could have some runout. that could be an effect of a worn wheel bearing/hub. check your bearings for play.

check your hoses, make sure the calipers are working properly. seems to me like a bearing problem though.

Ball joints or tie rod ends. As you brake the suspension loads or compresses and the front of the wheels will want to go towards eachother, which they do some. When your ball joints are worn when the suspension compresses and the force on the wheel from the suspension vs the friction of the road and add in a tie rod end or ball joint an the wheel will shudder and compress forward and then pull back an keep doing this an you will feel every bit of it through the wheel.

Lift up your truck and check your ball joint and tie rod ends. Pull on the wheel as its elevated an if there is movement then you found your culprit.

    check it all man!

be sure not to mistake wheel bearing movement for ball joint movement!

The hubs on those trucks when they go bad they howl that's why I don't think it's a bearing.

If you look at my "Lower Ball Joint Replacement" thread you'll see how to replace the lower ball joints. You can also use that thread to replace your CV axle shaft, upper ball joint, outer tie-rod ends, IWE and wheel hub. Everything all in one. Now you just gotta find out what is causing that noise. :)
