Well I tried to talk to the salesman today and he wouldnt budge, he started feeding me a line about book value and how he priced it just under NADA book value and I tried reasoning with him and saying that my 2000 pontiac is listed at 3000 dollars and its a rust bucket, so hes obviously just being the typical car salesman. Anyway there is another truck that I found. Its a 99 f150 supercab stepside, it was damaged and repaired so it has a salvage title but the guy has had a few other vehicles and he usually prices his trucks fairly. He repairs a lot of these ford models and I have talked with him about a different truck but someone bought it before i could. Heres the link: 1999 FORD F150 -- SUPERCAB -- STEPSIDE -- 4X4 -- 118K MILES
First ask for copies of the repairs from the accident. Can't provide, walk. If it was frame damage, walk. Flood, depends on the repairs. Take a house fridge magnet and check the repair areas for real sheet metal or a layer of bondo. If everything else checks out, he gives your $2500 for your car, and you take the truck for $3k.
This truck went in the ditch and it needed a new bumper, fender and it needed the support for the bumper to be straightened out, he says its a pretty clean truck. Ive used the magnet trick plenty of times and I know what to look for when checking for bondo. It doesnt have any water damage. Im not trading in my car because it is only worth about 1000 bucks to me and its nice to have a backup vehicle.
