I think i know what you mean. But elaborate a bit more if im wrong. Rack over the cab, with the tire on that, soo it wont be attached to the topper or anything? Only example i can find for what I think you're saying is this.
That's a good looking s10? That's kinda what I mean, but I meant more along the lines of a roll bar rack that extended over your cab. But, that would mean you couldn't use your camper shell.
Got bored, did a few chops. Didnt add on the extras or anything. Just basic shape. Personally, may not be your cup of tea. I do go camping, and hate setting up a tent. Topper makes it nice, but i have to move stuff around all the time. If i leave the topper on, I could possibly utilize a tent type thing like below. I like the first one, as the roof rack part extends over the cab too. More space to put things up top. Crazy? Most likely. But its what I would like to do at some point in the near future.
The topper doesn't bother me at all man. It's your truck, build it how you see fit. I think that tent idea would be cool.
I would. I hate unloading fishin poles, coolers, and a few million other things out of the bed just to throw an air mattress in. Although, a roof basket and boxes to put everything in could be used to stop this. But then my short ass has gotta have a way to reach it to load/unload. How they look folded down depends on model type i guess. Some are like they are folded up in bags, others in a hard plastic shell.
