A 351W swapped into a gen 10 is a dumb idea.. Stay 5.4, built it and boost it..

Biggest problem is its illegal to drop an older motor into a newer truck that is emission controlled, you'll never get it licensed

Chattanoogans have complained for years that
North Georgians don't have to pass EPA emissions standards.

    1995 and back don't either.
I say the price they pay for no income tax.

NFL, I'm currently running a 4.2 man... It's not gunna cut it.
AK, it's already licensed, and I'm not going to be driving it anywhere they give a flip. It's gunna be my hunting truck.. Only drive it through a town with 4 cops.. And ones a relative. And another reason I wanna go with the older motor is thered be less electronic stuff. Meaning less to go wrong in my eyes.. This things guns catch hell and see high water.. So it's gunna havta be stout stuff I'm working with.

I know I'm jumping in here without reading through, but I thought you got a new truck? Or are you just trying to make this one a hunting truck?

Haha makes since. Or you could sell it and get an older lifted f150 4x4 for hunting and what not. A lot of the older ones are tough as nails, just an idea though.

I think it varies by state. iirc here in IL you can but it has to all be documented to the state. And still has to abide by the emmisions laws for the motor in it.

Theres a guy on f150online who put coilovers on his 4x4.

I think the 4x4 frame is different than the 4x4.... however if I had a 4x4, I would:
1.take off the torsion bars and shocks. why? so I can find out the amount of suspension travel without: maxing out the balljoints/tierods/CV joints.
    2. Look into RCV joints and see if they make any for the 97-03 f150 trucks.
    3. Do some research on newer f150 suspensions to see if maybe a newer lower control arm would fit and not bind/ get in the way of the CV.
    4. does the newer f150 spindle have just an electric hub lockout to disengage the wheel and cv?
    5. uniball upper control for more travel? I say yes.
    6. cut off this shock mount thingy and figure out a mount for a coilover.
    7. widen track width? uh...duh.
    8. get some nice Fox 2.0, or maybe some Icons, Kings? no, no Kings you pay for the name.
    9. easily adjustable C/O is best.
    10. Also, a front locker is mandatory, air or electric is best.
    11. bump stops and limit straps are needed to prevent the suspension from maxing out and damaging parts.
    12. drive like crazy!
