Thinking about trying to put a new torque converter in the truck before winter hits.

Problem is, I'm on a budget and don't want to spend a ton of money. All I need is a plain jane, nothing fancy torque converter.

I have no idea the pros/cons of high/low stall converters, and have no idea what I need. Hoping you guys can shoot some recommendations my way!

I have done absolutely nothing to the motor/tranny. I have 195k miles now, and the motor and tranny are both getting worn out. I'll have both of those rebuilt when the time comes, but for now I just need a new torque converter. Still running stock 3.55 gears as well.

I do run 33s, if it matters, and I do tow quite often, mostly during the winter running the stock 31s.

When you rebuild what are your plans for the rebuild?

It's a 4.6. When it comes time for a rebuild it's gonna be MOAR power and a built tranny. It's several years down the road so it's not something I'm putting much thought into right now. I'm still in college, rebuild time will be after I've got my degree and a good job, moved out, a daily driver, etc etc...It doesn't really matter if the converter I get now will be good for the future rebuild because I'll just be getting a new one then anyway.

if your not going to do the rebuild for a few years to come just stick with the stock converter for now.

    Stay stock convertor right now...

Unless you are ready to rebuild now, don't bother.. Cause you need your parts all in order and picked out to pick the right converter
