Alright guys, I haven't posted on here in a while but I need y'alls' expertise. My mom is looking at getting a camper and I would have to haul it. So just a little background, the camper is 33' long and weighs 6200 lbs dry. I know the truck is rated for 9200 lbs but I have 35's and a 6" lift which will decrease my towing capacity. So we are looking at getting an Edge CS for the "towing" mode, so what can I expect to get out of the CS? Would it really make a difference? Has anyone towed a camper with the CS? Thanks in advance for the help?

IMO spend the money on gears vs the edge. 4.56 or 4.88, the edge will basically just sorta band aid the problem. The gears will correct it.

The edge will make a difference but like danny said gears would be better. Also depends on how far you are towing the camper. If its long distances than gears for sure

Go with the 4.56s to correct the problem. I was on 37s and towed a 35 ft camper fine.

Thanks guys, and regearing is definitely on the to-do list very soon after getting the trailer. But with the money we are dropping on a new camper its gonna be hard to get the regear at the same time. So will the tuner hold me till I can get the regear or do we have to push the camper back till I get the new gears done?

First make sure your truck is physically up to spec to haul that trailer. You have rear suspension that is in good condition? You using Class IV hitch with a 2 5/16-inch ball, rated for that kind of weight? Do you have a transmission cooler? If what you currently have is in very good condition, then I would say go for it. Perhaps try hauling the trailer without any modifications first and then decide which route to go.

Just to let you know, my tool trailer isn't anywhere near as long as it's only 16 feet, but it has a 10,000lb GTWR. I only haul a max of 8,000lbs in it but I haul it daily and my truck is bone stock, apart from upgraded brakes and a Borla Cat-Back exhaust. My truck hauls it just fine, although not nearly as well as my Ram 1500.

you can go up a couple gear sizes, but if you go too high your trans will start tearing up...Thats why I got a CS, because I dont really feel like blowing up my trans haha

I'm planning on a CTS myself. I like my stock 3.73:1 gearing, it works just fine for me. I've proven that our trucks can be worked like F-250s if properly maintained. My engine, transmission and rear differential are all original, which is pretty damn good for a workhorse truck hauling heavy weight daily. a $700 tuner is a lot less expensive than a $2,500 transmission rebuild.

yes...but when you put a shift kit in without drilling out the necessary holes in the plate....you blow out 3rd and 4th...then have to buy a 2500 trans...however it is built to hold 600hp...worth it lolq
