Stock rods will be more then fine, you can even run boost on stock rods. Not huge amounts of boost but the stock rods could take 6-7 psi boost even
Keep in mind lightnings didn't have forged rods... They did have forged pistons an crank though. Lightnings stock are good for about 450hp so just to give you an idea. The Lincoln 4v should have a forged crank stock as well.
If I were doin a rebuild I would def. put forged everything in it for durability and if I wanted to up the power I wouldnt have to tear into it again and replace stuff.
Yea i know, an powder cast crap isnt really that great or different then a conventional casting haha.
Whats the main difference between the two? Is that something like adding calcium to concrete to kept it from cracking?
Powdered is basically they use a powdered metal in a mold an sinter it ( bake it, which melts it). I think they take them to white hot an a few steps afterward vs a cast unit that uses molten metal
Alright so im starting to put together a list of parts im going to need to get this rotating assembly started. 1. ARP Main Studs 2. Main Bearings 3. Factory/ARP Dowels and Side Bolts 4. Pistons w/ Wrist Pins 5. Piston Rings 6. Rods (maybe) Is there anything I'm missing? I know i will need to take the flexplate and harmonic balancer with me so i can have him balance the whole thing.
