Thank you, There's a long story behind this set up. Basically, I and 4 other Raptor owners were invited to spend 3 days exploring northern Maine along the Canadian border. Everything had been planned out in advance, the routes, the meals, cost, etc... There were several required items, sleeping bags, 2 spare tires, walkie talkies. The list went on. Well as the date of this "expedition" got closer, things started to change. Instead of 10 gallons of additional fuel, the host (also a fellow Raptor owner) said we needed 25 gallons. Instead of $50 he wanted $75. In the end, I found out that everyone else bailed and that it would just be me and this other guy staying at his cabin for a long weekend. This was just after the registration for the Havoc event closed. Some how one of the guys from GLRE, the group that put the Havoc event together, heard about the situation and asked if I would like to sign up. This was several days after registration had ended. Any ways, that’s how I ended up attending Havoc, and canceling the Maine trip, so it all worked out. As for the rack itself, it was a simple mod. I used elevator bolts (the same ones used to secure the cover to the side rails), rubber washers, and fender washers. I Plasti Dipped the heads, then bolted those to the cover and the rack(s) is removable. For the rack I went to Home Depot bought a 1' square galv tube which was pre drilled. I cut it into the 2 lengths I needed, used bed liner to spray paint them, and plastic furniture plugs to finish the ends. I then bolted Quik Fist clamps to the pre dilled tubes. Used some rubber bushings to space the rack away from the cover and attached it with thumb screws. It seems to be holding up well, no sags. I wouldn't put anything heavy on it like a High-Lift jack. And it's out of the way. The axe and shovel, I had, I just painted the metal and Pasti Dipped the handles. Here is a couple cell phone close up pics:
AH! sweet! I may look into doing something like that with my truck. Oh I now remember why I dont have my highlift in my toolbox, I have an in-bed toolbox and the highlift I have is too long. it wont even fit diagonal in it. I did get it for free though so no complaints. (I would want it in the box because I use my box for a seat/stand.
