    Lifted Ford Escape

Hey guys! I'm new here as of a few minutes ago and i'm looking to lift my 2002 Ford Escape as well as put a turbo in it for extra power until I can afford a diesel to drop into it. The question I have is whether or not a Ranger lift kit will work on an escape? And could I use a 97 RANGER KIT ON A 2002 ford. Just wondering! thanks

97 rangers have torsion bars for the 4x4 model and the 2wd model have a separate coil and shock system for the front end if I remember correctly, the escapes have struts in the front.

you wouldn't be able to lift the rear either, ranger has leaf springs and the escape has struts in the rear as well.

My 2¢, don't waste time with the escape. We ditched ours six months ago and I've never been happier. It had 130k and it was falling apart, constant intake problems and tranny issues. We traded it on a jeep liberty with the diesel, I did the OME lift kit like joe suggested, it's much more capable as a 4x4 and the diesel is worth putting money into. Just some thoughts from someone who owned and worked on one. Just not sure how the drivetrain would be offroad. If you're not offroading much, a lifted escape would be pretty awesome.

I do have to say that a diesel swap into an escape would be pretty awesome, not sure what motor you plan to go with but I'm pretty happy with the VM crd in our jeep. It's a 2.8 4cyl turbo They use in the mercedes, It's a tiny little power plant. Easily squashed into a small car like the escape. I think you can get a crate motor for under $1000. Thought t would be cool to put one in my wheeler before I sold it.

As far as the lift, OME makes an awesome product, they focus on ride and product quality more than "lets jack this fugger up as high as it can go". I installed the OME 3" kit on our liberty, it only took about 4 hours to install, just drove to UT and back (I'm in WA) and I'm more than happy with the kit.
