Alright guys I'm having a little issue, my truck was running great until yesterday, I'm halfway to work (30) miles and the truck randomly jerks back, and now it randomly has this shutter at highway spends. It seems to work great on hills and everything it just randomly decides to jerk around. The owner before me said the plugs aren't that old, and I've only put 1000 miles on it since I bought it since I don't normally drive it to work. Any ideas on what the problem is? I put some heet in the gas take just in case there is water. It is a. 97 4.2l with 175k

My 4.2 did that one time. If I remember correctly it was a plug or a plug wire. Odd that it's not a constant deal though.

Still doing it after the Heet treatment?

Was it raining or had it need raining or had you washed the truck recently?

Yes the cel is on, but it has been since I bought it but the shop said that was a gas cap fault. And it hasn't rained lately, we had some freezing rain last Friday but it was more of a mist and I haven't washed the truck. The problem started yesterday morning. But what's weird is it stopped last night after driving 50 miles with heet in and then started half way to work again today and didn't do it again for 15 miles.

Okay I have an update, I fixed the problem. The previous owner said the plugs were changed, that was wrong. They were all green and black, and burnt to hell. So I replaced them and plug wires, truck runs great but I still feel I need to replace the fuel filter.

It never hurts to check on stuff that the p.o "did" and fuel filter is a quick and cheap fix
