Just purchased an 2003 fx4 lariat. I've owned several fords before that include mustangs and lightnings.

I purchased this truck on the cheap due to mechanical issues. Truck sold for $1000 and has 138,000 miles. It didn't have reverse and ac would blow out of defrost only.

I'm swapping out the transmission out this Saturday and I've tried the evac fix that I've seen on the web but it didn't work.

My biggest issue that I've noticed is that I hear a grinding noise when I drive around town. So any help would be appreciated.

hey buddy! welcome to the forum!

your AC issue could possibly be the blend door behind the dash.

Thanks, yeah I stuffed my hand down the ac vent when I had the panel removed and the ac is cold! So I know that door isn't opening just not sure what to do to fix it. I've done the steps with the oil rinds and that didn't even faze it.

This is the only photo I have of it. The day I got it.

    Thanks,

I'm just more worried about the stupid grinding noise when I'm driving it.

I tried some trouble shooting yesterday on it and came to no conclusions other than I had bad battery terminals because it didn't want to start. Lol

Welcome to the forum! looks like you got a great deal. Maybe its just the tranny still. If it still makes that noise after you replace the tranny, then you know its not. :peace:

See I was thinking the same thing.

The truck was a filthy whore. The guy I purchased it from never cleaned it. The leather isn't torn just dirty and looks like there was never an effort to clean or vacuum the carpet.

These are cell phone pictures but you can see the dirty side on the leather seats.

I'm kinda of OCD when it comes to having my cars clean.

If I were you I'd change all the diff oil, tranny fluid, and motor oil as soon as reasonably possible. Also check all the coolants and make sure they're all up to level. I'd do that after any vehicle I bought. Especially if you don't think he took care off it.
