The hid lights flicker and don't come on with the lights set to the auto position. If the lights are on then the hid is ok but not on auto. I realized the auto feature is drl and also makes 80% power and pulses to cause the flicker. Knowing this how can I fix the issue to make the auto lights on the truck work properly. Can the halo and led strip be slaved into the drl and the hid slaved to the headlight on so they don't interfere? Or will a capacitor make the auto on feature work thus using my hid all the time? Kevin
What HID kit do you have? You may need to disable the DRL to make it work. The ballasts won't fire if they don't have enough voltage in order to save the bulbs.
I see. I don't know what the name is of the kit. Got them online. I'll try the capacitor idea and then might need to go to a dealer for the drl shut off. That's just a hassle. I never knew it was going to be so difficult. Just wanted it done is all.
A cap is only designed to provide short burst carry over current power and will not sustain for a long duration during the lower power DRL mode. Best solution like Will says, disable DRL mode by fuse or relay removal.
x2, no need to go to a dealer. Just look under the hood for the DRL relay and pull it out. *This may not be legal in your province*
to by pass this correctly your going to need a relay, basically your going to use the DRL wire to trigger the relay to pull power from the battery. The only way I can thing of getting around it. The easiest way though is not to use the DRL all together.
Thanks for the help. After thinking I figured out the best way maybe to just tape over the light sensor on the dash this making it night all the time. That way it is auto on and full power with no fuss. Since rewiring the led and halo would require some skills I don't know about.
