The latest in the never ending stream of problems...

It makes this humming noise at random. Sometimes for just a second, sometimes for a minute or more, and any length in between. I could be driving down the road, or sitting still in park.

Best way to describe it is it sounds similar to the sound you get from blowing across the top of a glass bottle. The noise seems to be coming straight from the air filter.

I'll try to get a video up later today, once I have a stable internet connection.

It's getting more and more frequent and is driving me insane

    I have a K&N CAI

I could check any other rubber hosing in the area though. It's tough to trace down since it usually doesn't last very long

check to make sure everything is tight. that's where a smoke machine would come in handy lol

had one at school, hooked it up to the air box and pumped smoke through the system. would leak of anywhere that had an opening. pricey equipment though.

I had this problem with my old cia. Did you take out the silencer when you removed the old air box? Once i put that back in then it quieted down. Something with the cold air flow that makes that sound.

I had a similar problem and ended up being the IAC valve (idler air control valve) was broken and would make a low humming noise randomly while the truck was on.

I'm not sure really, but the intake was already on the truck when I got it and that was 70k miles ago with no noises until now.

Good idea, I wonder how I could test that

Take it off and clean it out with CRC air parts cleaner. You can get a flathead and move the actuator inside back and forth a bit to loosen all the carbon buildup.
