i have a 2001 expedition xlt 4wd this weekend I'm bona change the front and rear diff fluid and new gasket and the transfer case fluid. can you guys post up what weight and what gasket size i need to get and how many quarts in each? greatly appreciated
I cant tell you right off hand. Look it up cause it depends on what rear end you have. Google that shat or call uour local parts store. Royal purple is what i use.
light iowa said, its going to depend on your rear end. a tip for ya, my 02 has the 10.25 sterling rear which calls for a ton of oil. local auto store quoted me about $100 just for the oil. I ordered a gallon of Lucas gear oil with friction modifier already in it for $40-$45 this is what I bought: Lucas 10122 75/140 Synthetic Gear Oil - 1 Gallon : Amazon.com : Automotive one last thing, before changing your fluid check your rear axle bearings. I changed my fluid and then a month later my rear axle bearings needed to be replaced. that meant all new oil, so I basically wasted money.
Defintely do axle bearings i forgot about that. Totally worth it while you are i there. mine started leaking before i changed fluid but you dont want to have to do it again.
