So my wife's jeep will be paid for in about a year, I hate car payments so I'd only like one at a time. I want to get something for myself to drive, I want a mustang, but I know I'll regret it the first day I need to bring some tools home or swing by the depot on my way home. I'll be keeping my psd obviously, so I'd like something sporty and fun to drive yet still something with a bed for light duty. I'm thinking either. Lightning or an 02-03 Harley edition f150. Leaning more towards the lightning just because they're a little cheaper and easier to come by. I'd like the Harley edition screw so I can still have a back seat for the kids, but I still have my cc diesel so it's not something I need. The reason for this is my Psd is at 140k, which is nothing for mileage, and I'd like to keep it as low as possible since these newer diesels are so damn expensive to buy if I were to ever replace mine. Plus something smaller would be nice. And going with a sport truck would be new for me. Gas mileage isn't a concern since I will now live only about 10 miles from work, my question is, what kind of "special" maintenance does the supercharged 5.4 require? Am I looking at basic maintenance part replacement being super expensive like my diesel due to it being an SVT? It just seems to be such a waste of mileage on my precious diesel to drive it daily and waste it's low mileage on daily driving. Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
Lightning over HD. its got more boost (while I believe its just a pulley swap), however its smaller, will get better MPGs and IMO would be more fun. Stock it will tow quite a bit and have a bigger bed.
I had a 99 L before and loved it. Mostly was parked in the garage though. Had 65,000 miles when I sold it. As far as parts. There's not much diff. Motors are okay only weak points and heads and rods. I would go wot on mine and never had issues though. Earlier years would shoot out spark plugs. Lightningrodder forum is a good source.
Id go L over harley just because with a drop they look sick AF. The harleys do have a pretty kick ass interior and you can even find them with an ext cab instead of a crew cab for a happy medium. Nothing beats a lightning though id love to have one in the garage.
Yeah, there are more if them, easier to find. I agree that the smaller would be more fun, but the interior of the HD is sexy! Ha ha. Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
HD can be built to be just as bad ass Wish I had a picture of my cousins 02 that he had a lot of work done too He had a few lightning as well but I'll never forget some of the o **** moments in his HD
Ha ha, they're so sexy. But I think I want to keep it simple. The lightning is two seats and power options with a little more power under the hood. I don't need anything fancy. Too fancy and I won't want to rack up those miles either ha ha. Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
My Grandpa has a 03 Harley Edition and its one beautiful truck. They are definitely beautiful trucks inside and out. He loves it, bought it new and will die with it in his driveway. His wife also has a 03 king ranch that she bought new and still loves. I think you'd have more fun in a lightning though. Lighter and faster.
Harley over a L any day. It's easy to make a single cab fast but to see a supercrew roasting folks is even better. Plus I had one so I speak from experience Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
