Shocks?

I haven't had my truck for more than 6-7 months. It's an 03 fx4 screw. When I purchased it, it came with a 4" rancho lift kit. Well either way I pulled a trailer yesterday and she squatted down bad. I'm thing I need stringer shocks or something. What have you guys been using when you have a lift and tie something heaving to avoid that massive squat. I plan on pulling a travel trailer this summer and want this fixed before I even try it.

Have rancho 9 way adjustable stiffness in the rear of my 2001 expedition and on 9 I trailer my 7000 lb boat. Truck didn't squat an inch

shocks wont help with the squat, they'll help absorb how much the truck will bounce with the trailer attached though. if you are interested in new shocks I would go with some adjustable ones like joeygr8gt stated.

what you would want to look at are a set of helper springs or airbags to keep that rear end up.

gotta remember, the shocks are there only to control how much the springs/suspensions movement, they aren't there to support a load.

 

I took some off the f250 I wonder if that helper spring will work. Or my rancho shocks that I removed from it also.

give it a shot. F250 springs might be stiffer.

 

Ok since you replied my brain has been turning and I'm liking the air lift bags and doing a DIY 12v compressor with a 3 gallon on board tank.

ive never used air bags before but I have seen kits.

they are a little expensive.

installing the kits doesn't seem too hard and the wiring is simple. just need to find a place to store the tank.

i think Hellwig is one of the top brands out there.

those might be just as expensive as airbags.

why the hell hasn't anyone with some more info chimed in yet lol

 

I know I was waiting on something. I've looked them up and they average right under $200. My truck is leveled right now and don't really want a rake. That's my only concern.
