Yeah even though it worked perfectly on the 04 for whatever reason. Oh well, my buddy wired everything up pretty legit. Just gotta mount the switch a little better

As always you're the electronics expert. I'm sure you're right, the draw from a trigger wire wouldn't be enough to kill the reverse circuit. However, most people I know don't run reverse pods off of a relay, they tap straight into the reverse harness. I personally did it that way on two different GMs with no long term issues.

It doesn't take much to kill the reverse lights on the 09+ Fords though. This little guy sure does it.

I'd say a Hella relay trigger to the reverse lamp wire and
contact 30 of the relay to fused 12 volt battery source
in the trailer harness or if that isn't available
run a fused power wire back there for aux.
    lighting.

The switch gives on/off capability even
    without reverse gear engagement.

There we go again, most don't want the cost or labor involved
    with running extra wires/relay/fuse.

    If it's electrical
we'll just leave all those wires alone.
    They aren't
paying someone else at a hole in the wall
stereo chop shop to mess it up with 110
volt twist nuts and 3 rolls of cheap black tape.

Way better light output than those tiny stock back up lamps.

I'd say so, now I don't have to use my brake lights for output when I back up
