I knew you would come around! I'm about to dump 1500 into mine for new suspension and bumpers and a couple of other little things.

It's not hard to dump a ton of money into these! Ha ha I was worried about the 2.5 4 banger being too little but it has quite a bit of pep for a little motor. This thing has a rebuilt transfer case, all brand new suspension, custom shafts, rebuilt diffs with lockers, and pretty much all the "necessities" a lifted jeep would need. All with under 1000 miles. I only paid $2000 for it, I'm starting to think it'll be more valuable to me as a vehicle than something to sell.

I borrowed the money from my dad to buy it, telling him I'd pay it right back when I sold it, he was ok with it since we can't touch our savings right now (CDs) but now seeing it cleaned up and getting put back together he's asking " are you sure you want to sell it?". So we are working on a way to pay back the money without selling it. Probably will involve some extra work. My grandma wants her house painted, he was going to do it but I might get to do it instead ha ha. I'm fine with it!

Worked on the jeep this weekend. Went out to pick n pull and pulled a tilt column from a Cherokee. Couldn't ever find a decent thread on whether it swaps in or not. Figures for $40 bucks it was worth a shot! Turns out a Cherokee column fits perfectly. Just need to cut the mounting boot off the bottom, and use the yj clamp mount and swap mounting mid column brackets. However the tilt columns are an inch short, they must have longer shafts coming from the gear box. No big deal, I have the shafts from the yj so I can just weld an extension.

Turns out the column I grabbed from pick n pull had something messed up with the ignition rod somewhere in the column. It wouldn't allow the lock cylinder to return to "off", and if I tried to force it I could see the plastic housing flexing. So there was something in there resisting. They have a 30 day exchange policy so I'm going to take it back and swap it out for a different one. It didn't have a key so I didn't find out it didn't work until swapped in a new cylinder I picked up. But it was nice to find out that all of the electronics are all plug and play and it takes minimal modifications to make it work. I could probably fix it, but I'd rather not hassle with it.

    Just a few pics.

Tinkered a little more tonight. Pick n pull is an hour away and traffic heading that way after work is a nightmare so I'm holding off until this weekend to head out there.

I pulled the giant front fender flares offend trimmed them a lot. I took about 2.5" off, making a 5.5" flare with 5" of actual flare. I'm hoping to either fab or buy a set of metal tube flares eventually so this will due for now. It makes a big difference. 8" flares are toooooo big. I also roughed up the grille and fenders for paint. I'm doing the rustoleum bedliner/paint. I might pick up a set of flares from a junker and fab some tube fenders, or tube flares or something... These fenders are in pretty bad shape as far as rock chips and trail rash so a good coating will give them a limited second life.

I already put one coat of paint on the drivers fender so I'll take some pictures of that tomorrow when I done working on it.

Thanks! Yeah they are! I'm scouring every inch of Craigslist looking for parts, some that I need, most that I don't.
