    I am was thinking if that saves money in the long run? I know it may if you were planning on driving your super duty and ended up renting a prius. Do you all think it saves on the money that it could cost you if the engine had that many more miles added to it?

    I'm thinking what if something severe mechanical happens on the next 1500 mile trip?

    Cost prohibitive to carry every sensor and module for a Powerstroke with me.
    Rental puts my mind at ease at least for a little while.

    ^^ this. We drove our expi to CA about a month after we bought it. Fuel pump module went out in the middle of Bakersfield CA. $100 part 1000 miles away at home, cost me $375 after a 20 mile tow to the nearest oreillys. Switched it out in the parking and the rest was good.

    How much did that rental run you for the 1500 miles?

    Got 93k on the 08 f150 and 128k on the 91 f150, would have more on the 91 of the oil pump didn't take a shit on my way home from town one day

    I have a beater supposedly to save gas and keep the miles down on my '98 Navigator but by the time I maintained (read: restored), tagged, and insured the beater, I have/had way more money in it than I would have used in fuel and maintenance on the Navigator.

    Another guy on a different forum but near me went through the same thing with his. He and I both agree: never again.
