New guy to this forum with 2000 f150

Did a quick wash today just to get all the grease off it.
Really Need some gap guards now and those 285s are looking small. I have to do a few maintenance things first tho. I rebuilt the front end about 8 months ago and did everything but the inner tie rods and of course now those are bad, so I have to do those and get it aligned. I also have a new abs pump and HCU waiting to go in so I gotta put that in and take it to get the pump electrically bled.

 

I suggested cheaper horse stall rubber flooring from Tractor Supply to Pity7700 years ago for gap guards or a similar material rather than the expensive ones they sell from a 4x4 site or brick and mortar store.

I think I have decided I'm gonna keep my 17s when I go up to 35s and use the money I was gonna spend on wheels for gears instead. I'm planning on doing it myself too. I know a lot of guys say get it professionally done, but there is a couple in depth instructions out there and some videos on regearing a 9.75. It really doesn't look to bad. I'm planning on doing one axel at a time. I hardly ever use 4wd so I'll do the rear in August when I get the tires and I'll pull the front drive shaft and do the front ones in November probably. I do a lot of highway driving (20 miles one way to school, about 14 of which is highway) but all the other driving I do is city/country roads. so I'm still one the fence about 4.10s or 4.56s. I'm leaning towards 4.56s tho. I want it to be enjoyable to drive and the fastest I ever drive is 70 and most of the time I'm at 65ish. With 4.10s my rpms will be at 1950ish and 4.56s will put me around 2200 I think so it's not that big of a difference. But I don't want to loose more MPG than I have to. What do yall think? I don't tow anything right now.

Won't 2200 rpm put you in a higher HP curve also hence the increase in MPG?

In theory, yes I think so. But higher rpms could also mean more fuel consumption, but that depends on what rpm the engine is most efficient at. I talked to MyFX4Project and he was getting the same mpgs with 35s and 4.56s as I am now with 285s and 3.55s so I think 4.56s should be worth it. There is plenty of info out there for regearing the rear diff, but not so much for how to do the front

 

Nothing new really. Got it to pass inspection thankfully. I also just scored a set of 12th gen Lariat emblems for $40. I'm also thinking about redoing my exhaust soon

 

Oh and I finished (kinda) putting that cooler in my tool box. I got all the extra insulation in and a drain plug in. I just have to make it look pretty now
