I just bought a 2006 f350 with a 6.0 161 thousand miles . I can’t tell if it’s been flushed . My question is should I attempt to flush it ? Will it cause me problems? Should I just leave it alone? Also what’s the best antifreeze to use ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@sherryparris Nothing wrong with a flush unless it has been recently done. I use the Prestone Specific Gravity Antifreeze Tester Has a swing arm to tell you the protection level both freeze and hot protection. FordTechMakuloco is one of the best tutorial vid makers on YouTube. He suggests the Ford Gold Antifreeze as being the best. I've used a different brand and had good results for 18 years, also adding an anti cavitation additive of your choice. This prevents erosion of the timing cover behind the water pump. Check to see if it is already in the antifreeze you choose. Seems a lot of Powerstroke owners are going with the optional coolant filter, because of left over sand from casting the engine blocks, though they can be expensive. Research and you will find one to fit your budget parameters.
We haven’t been able to get to it . My husband mother has been sick and just passed Friday . So hopefully soon . This will help keep him busy . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
