I'd rather do it the RIGHT way...

    Ok so I have a 2wd 98 F150 ECLB....yea, one of the 2 years that are probably the most tedious to deal with since 97 & 98 were their own animals.....but I'd like to put a small lift on the truck. I'm only 5'8", so I'm not lookin to lift it up to the sky, but I figure a decent 3.5" suspension lift (I'm kinda against body lift, it's just pointless IMO) would allow me to comfortably put 35" tires under the truck. Now I've found that the right way to lift the front is with spindles and shocks, and I've found kits that have those, but every time I find a kit, it winds up with lift blocks for the rear. Now I'm sure lots of folks have used blocks and they're just fine, but I'd rather install some SUSPENSION lift solution for the back instead of just blocks. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but is the typical/preferred means of lifting the rear suspension of one of these to install taller leaf springs in the rear? So I guess my questions are:

    who sells a 3.5" set of front lift spindles for a 98 f150 2wd?
    who sells a set of 2" rear lift springs?
    can this be done without breaking the bank or spending more than the truck is really worth?
    am I completely wrong and trying to go in the wrong direction here?

    Trucks have been coming built from Ford for many years with
    steel rear lift blocks, I agree the aluminum ones I would not use.
    But here is a link to leaf LIFT rear springs.
    Once you put a heavy load on them, and work them, they will sag over time.

    sdtrucksprings dot com also sells 3" spindles but you wanted 3.5".

    So you're saying that lift blocks ARE the correct / preferred / best way to lift the rear of a 2wd truck?

    Shackles are another suspension lift method depending on length.
    Too long and side to side sway becomes an issue.

    The other consideration is, how much sag do your current leaves have?

    Those late bumpside and early dent side Forestry and Fire truck many people
    call "High Boys" came from Ford Motor Company with steel lift blocks on the rear.
