Hey guys just a quick question for all yall
I was wondering if any of the Ford techs here know what all is updated on a PCM reflash. Currently I have a low idle while stopped at a red light (400-500RPM). I'm wondering if a PCM reflash will correct this. I've already done everything I can think of to do on my own (cleaning MAF and Cleaning Throttle body, Checking electircal connections etc etc). I've come to the conclusion that it's probably the PCM just telling the truck not to put the idle as high as it should be. Am I right? This is becoming a problem because my truck will die while backing up or parking, pretty much anything at an idle that involves turning the wheel.

    So here's the question
    Do I need a PCM reflash/update?
If not what should I be looking to do to fix this?

initially yes, currently using my programmer to prevent this from happening but hate having to custom tune every time I go to a different program.
Haven't checked for Vac leaks but as far as I know they're fine (4x4 hi and lo still work great)
as for CELs I can only remember a few, stuff like 02 sensors, maf sensor, throttle actuator, and a few others that I don't recall

some more quick history of the truck
    2004 F150 Fx4 with the 5.4l engine 3 valve
I did the gotts mod and reset the PCM by unhooking the battery for 30 min, however I didn't go through the suggested process that the owners manual says to (drive it 10 miles etc.) Started having problems where it would idle but die as soon as I gave it gas and almost got me nailed while I was trying to get home. This problem as far as I can determine started before I unplugged the battery because every time I parked at my house I had to turn the wheels and I could hear and feel a vibration. thought it was just the tires but later realized it was the truck dying.
This is the only problem I've had with the truck other than the PATS system being a little touchy when going 4wheeling or over bumps in the road real fast.
The truck as far as I know is running on all the original engine setup (including the tranny) and the only performance mod has been the gotts mod.
112k on the truck and nothing like cam phasers or typical ford stuff going on
oh and the plugs were replace 9k ago

all of those cel could cause idle problems. vacuum leaks unrelated to the 4x4 system is what i was referring to.

oh ok I wasn't sure if the vac lines only operated 4x4. How would the 02 sensors cause idle problems? wouldn't it be sporadic. The truck operates fine once its moving, it just dies at idle.

there is a number of things that could cause this. i really dont think a pcm flash is your problem. i may be wrong. if you cleaned the maf and was extremely careful with it. then check the iac. make sure nothing is clogged or blocking here. No go there? Maybe fuel filter?tps?

thats what I don't know how to do. I've been told that the TB on 04+05 f150s is all one piece right? how do you take it apart safely without risking it not going back together?
