You might as well order heads at the same time. You'll get a discount and after the fogs you'll want heads anyways lol
Good write up cowboy, just wanted to add to the projector retrofit part. I am having a set of retrofit projector lights built now by Brian at Sickhids.com. Like Cowboy said, its expensive but there are alot of custom options. I will post pix of mine when I get them. should ship some time next week. Check out The gallery on http://www.sickhids.com/, there are afew F150s in there.
Thanks! I do think that properly set up projectors are pretty sweet, but the cost just doesn't justify it for me. Make sure to do a build thread when you get them!
Here is some more HID info: General output info (55w Halogen vs. 35w HID vs. 50w HID) in "lumen" (measurement of actual light ouput) ...... > 55w Halogen = approx 900 lumen @ 3800k > 35w HID = approx 3000 lumen @ 5000k (light loss between "Kelvin Temp" (+/-) 1000k = approx 100-150 lumen) > 50w HID = approx 4800 lumen @ 5000k (light loss between "Kelvin Temp" (+/-) 1000k = approx 60-80 lumen)
Thanks James. I've been thinking about getting a 55w someday. Is there a noticeable (worthwhile) difference with yours compared to the 35w?
To me there is, I have a 50% tinted windshield and the new lends are smoked and it is still noticeable over the 35w I had. But I am also running the projectors and they focus the hids so freakin well, that helps too. Here is a pic of the 55wats in low beam ( projectors) I took the pic at 5:30pm on a sunny day with few clouds!
good info. but a question i havent seen anywhere. My truck has the day time running lights, and with HID's, im assuming this would be bad for their life span? Since i like the drl's, and have been beating the idea of hid's.
