Does anyone got any suggestions on draining full tank of gas thats 5 years old. Its a 34 gallon tank. Its on my 88 Chevy 1500 long bed.
The fuel pump is frozen. All I hear is the clicking noise from the relay. I also thought about dumping 2 bottles of stabilizer in it and then bouncing the truck around. Then beating on the fuel tank and maybe the pump will get unfrozen. My C2500 1990 has half tank in it that's 4-5 years old with 2 gallons of that 3 years old. I last started it back in November 2010 before that was November 2009. Thinking the cold temperatures could have frozen the fuel pump.
Beating on it and the stabilizer is an option no doubt, but it that don't work the only thing I can suggest is pumping it out with a syphon. Maybe this way! YouTube - How to Siphon Fuel Gas with a Drill Pump OR you can remove the bed and take the pump out, that way you can get the old gas out. I'm sure after 5 years it's not completely full still.
I got a briggs and stratton drill pump. But wouldn't a pump give spark out and cause a fire/explosion?
The ol suck on the end of the hose routine bro... Just remember to spit not swallow Lol... If you aint familiar with the ol fashioned syphon trick just keep the end of the hose lower than the fuel level you wanna reach (full drain hold it lower than the bottom of the tank) gravity will take care of it... I effectively drained my tank on my ol girl this way in about 5 min, 15gal
just take a big nail and knock a hole in a bottom corner and the drain....rinse and fill the hole with jb weld...
