well i have no explanation for teh smoke but the hose on the back of the throttle body had popped off and that was it. took less than a minute to fix so i was happy this morning, minus the snowdrift that was level with the hood of my truck
Woo hoo! easy fix ... I'm gonna go ahead and speculate and say that you probably have some build up on one or more of your intake valves. the -42 degrees probably made it a bit sticky and an intake valve was slow to close on a compression stroke and blew the compression right out of the head into the intake and in turn blew the PCV hose off and the smoke was the partially burnt fuel blowing out the wrong way haha... Run some valve cleaner through it, even fuel injector cleaner would help a bit too... a half a dose of lead substitute will help clean the valves and lube em (I know they run on unleaded gas but believe me, it can help for a one time dose) but be careful cuz even though it says safe for cats, I don't believe it haha... Also think about that dry gas for the cold weather
^^ Haha Yeah that's why I said I was speculating... This could've been the case and then again, maybe not. A gummed up valve is way more likely to stick in the cold than in the summer... but then again it coul've been an anomoly and never happen again like your case. like it was just started in a funny spot and backfired, but a stuck open valve is most likely the cause cuz there's no other way to get a backfire out of the intake if the valve's properly seated... unless it's broken, but it runs fine so, Idk. who the hell does know?? Lol I just like making sense of things, Stop makin me think about it!!!
Well what could it be haha mine did it 1 time never again ran like a top for 4 more years then my motor blew and I have new one now and it hasn't done yet
7x think bout this drove truck weekend b4 drove perfect I left on the road come home on a Friday go to start truck turns over for like 1 sec and nothing so I think batt is dead I try and jump it nothing so I take a flat screwdriver and turn flywheel over a little bit and got to start it and starts but is knocking like a sob so I take out motor and get it apart and the number 4 rod was bent any thoughts?
It would have to be an intake valve that stuck open or was slow to close and seat itself just for a brief moment causing a backfire... Or! Haha the quick suction of air into the throttle body basting into the back of the intake manifold blowing the, maybe already wiggled loose PCV hose off?
