I was going with the logic that somehow the Raptor is practical but this GMC somehow isnt in the post above mine. I know the payload of a Raptor is less than a regular F150 4x4 though.
Is the Raptor practical? No. Is it an awesome toy to have? Yes. If you feel like playing around in your back fields, you can rip around and still be in your comfortable truck
neither truck is 100 percent practical. but the raptor is the more badass non-practical truck. and i may offend a few people with this statment but both of them are more practical than a 2wd truck, and you see those everywhere also on the other end of the spectrum, a lifted truck isnt that practical either. you cant pull a gooseneck with a lifted truck or a raptor or the duracrap in the op. you cant pull out a stuck neighbors rig or feed cows in a soggy field with a 2wd. you cant bounce over speedbumps or sand dunes in anything but the raptor. everything has its own purpose. the raptor and duracrap are part dune monsters but mostly status symbols. theres people like "pssh! the ford platinum doesnt show people how rich i am effectively enough". tadaa!! the raptor evolution.
Exactly. You can be rich enough to afford the platinum and still use it, but its a whole step farther to have a Raptor that you can use that often. Just shows what you got
imo the most practical truck out there would be 4 door, 4x4, 7.3 powerstroke, 3/4 ton, longbed. with a nice big fully equipped toolbox. and you can get this setup for 5000 doll hairs easily
Just wait about another year, Dodge is supposed to be the first of the Big 3 to come out with the 1/2 Ton Diesel in 2013 model year. THAT will start the generation of most practical trucks
id walk before i drove a dodge. but good for them, maybe this will get fords diesel production ball rolling on a 1/2 ton diesel
Well... 1. Its most likely going to be a Cummins. 2. Someone has to dive in first. 3. Hell, its a 1/2 ton Diesel. Every guys dream truck
na dude seriously, id build my own 1/2 ton diesel before i dropped 40k on a dodge. theres not a doubt in my mind the engine will be bulletproof, but the truck around is pure crap. ill put a cummins in my truck if my 5.4 wasnt still good
This truck, IMO, looks like crap. Has a few decent style points, but the overall look is just too pieced together. Just my opinion. I do not think it is even as practical as the Raptor or the PowerWagon. Both those have an intended purpose of dunes or rock crawler. This is trying to do both, so sounds like it won't do either well. And Fords alternativer to a 1/2 ton diesel is the EB 3.5L and gets better mpgs than the other guys big V8s. while I'd still love to see Ford drop the 4.4L into the F150, I just don't see it happening.
