I left for work this morning and lost overdrive, then the rest of my gears... If I shut if off for a while, they'll come back, but then go away again. My Edge was showing tranny temps of 180-200* where usually its 150* Last night I drove through 100 ft of snow maybe 10" deep, I'm thinking that I got some wires wet that shouldn't be, but not sure. Any ideas?
if its the connectors. There are 2 set right there at the transmission. Get a hair drier and dry them out and try again. I would also turn overdrive off and see if it happens as well. Then if it doesn't happen for a bit turn overdrive back on and see what happens.
Ok, that's the best news I've heard. Everything else I've read says its the servos, or the o/d band, or the entire transmission going out. Do you know any place I can find a parts diagram?
not sure about parts diagram. I'm not going to tell ya that its the electrical connections for sure. But at least with these steps we should be able to narrow down the issue. When my OD when out it was an e-clip. Which only stopped the OD from working.
Dried all the connectors and tried backing out, no.reverse. tried going forward and would just barely move in first. Going to drop the pan and see what I can find
Yeah, pointing towards a new tranny. Fluid is full and looks good, but it makes a strange noise in neutral. Calling shops on Monday....
Well, I need a new tranny.... a reman unit from ford is $2600, that seems stupid expensive to me. What do you guys think?
I picked up a reman that had 70k miles on it for $1,000 warranty for 60k. So I would do a little shopping around.
