Need help

Ok I'm sitting in my truck in park and it's at idle. So I hear a ticking sound it goes like this

Tick tick tick ...... Tick Tick tick ..... Tick

Or something in a pattern like that. My dad said it might be a brain box goin bad but I don't think the computer is under the hood on our years

It also sounds like a misfire when i rev it and tried to shut off goin 40mph

But there is no check engine light

Any help would be nice and I'm not looking to argue just please help

 

maybe someone put a bomb under your hood

 

check spark plugs to be sure they are tight. Mine was ticking and then blew a plug from the head. I couldnt figure out the tick until it was too late.

 

try turning all the lights off and starting it up in the dark...raise the hood and look for fire jumping...this is a common problem and often overlooked for more serious issues...you could be loosing fire and that could cuase a shutoff and a tick...so try that and we'll go from there...

 

Actually I was seeing a flash goin down the dirt road it looked like the hood light tho

 

I'll tinker with the plugs and wires in the morning if that doesnt work I'll drive to my mechanic and get him to check it out

I really hope its a cheap fix or atleast a easy fix
