Posted this on the other site but figured yall could chime in... My truck has 126k miles. Not sure if it's the original or a rebuilt tranny. Today coming home, it would not go into 3rd. I babied it straight to Advanced Auto at 30mph at 2000+rpm to get a code check. Nothing. I got in and drove it home and it shifted just fine. What is going on? Any info is greatly appreciated as it's my daily driver and need it tomorrow, not sure if its gonna be able to make it or not. Thanks!
have you checked the fluid or had it changed recently? if not i would start there and check the tranny filter too to make sure it is not clogged. sounds like its time for new fluid
The fluid is red, when the motor was hot and idling, it was a little above the hot marking on the stick. As far as the filter I don't know...
my dad's f250 has this problem but he has a short in the wire harness which caused the computer to burn up so take the computer out and take off the cover and see if its burnt if the fluid drain and fill with filter doesnt work thats what i would check before i pay to get someone to look at it
