its the standard 4 pin setup, plus the white that is labeled to go to lt reverse, and another red wire that says constant 12v which i ran a wire directly from the battery. this is how I got the running lights to come on. WHen I tried to tap a thick orange off the harness, it never got anything. thanks for the help so far guys. this is driving me nuts.
Did you try tying in the white directly to your reverse lights? If it was me I'd cut the 4 pin off and splice straight to your taillights.
VDC your working with DC circuitry. You got a diagram of the 7pin? should look like this Keep the black probe on ground and move the red to each pin, your going to need a second person to apply the brakes and such. I'm pretty sure you should see 12v at every pin when that light should be applied.
he did, but he said he swapped it out for a 7 pin. here is the one for the 4 pin Trailer and Towed light hookups by what that pin out says is the turn signal is the same as the brake light for both sides, again same test black probe on ground and move the red around. ohhh and make sure the harness is still hooked up, The circuit has to be complete to measure the correct voltage across the system.
the white is already wired to the reverse on the driver taillight. this was done from my previous lightbar so it was still good. i dont want to cut the harness just yet in case i ever wanna sell or what not ya know. thanks, that makes perfect sense. the harness is still connected, permanently on the truck in fact. i'll try this after dinner w/ the gf and see what we can get off of it. Thanks so far guys. I know splicing would resolve immediately, but i'm trying to go around that. Preciate!!!
I will re-read this in the morning when I'm completely sober but I really can't believe your bar isn't working. Maybe it's just defective. It's weird to have certain functions work but not others.
Still gotta VM the harness. I finished the speaker install yesterday, and cleaned the truck up. Started to tape off the seats since I'm gonna spray them TODAY! Hopefully if my neighbor is around when I get home I can get him to work the pedals while I check the VM. I'm almost thinking that hard wiring it isnt gonna resolve the issue. We'll see. I might just tap/splice everything rather than cut the 4pin off. So frustrated though I haven't made this a priority. After removing my tailgate 3 times in 5 days.... I've lost my motivation.
