    The oil filter thing is true. Basically if the filter you are using does not have an anti drain back valve, all the oil will go back to the pan....

    Explorer help

    They should be rubber and the valve cover will have a grove for the gasket to sit in. If they are cork, spread a little grease on the valve cover...
