^^^ x2 on the 7.3, the 6.0 is good with the bulletproofing, and it sounds badass with a straight pipe. but you just cant beat the history of the 7.3.

Autometers are great, spensive but great. glowhift has some digital gauges, looks like you can replace your setup for about 100 bucks vs 100 bucks...
check out the glowshifts, theyre analog and fairly priced. not as nice as the fancy ones, but they read accurate, look decent and dont break the bank.
8" is a lot when you gotta haul a little one around, just my opinion. 8 looks great though
say good by low end with 37s and stock gearing... unless you have the 2-3k for gears I think youre better off for now, could always get gears...
